This piece was cast in 2023, but I made the sacrificial wax & wood piece in 2013.

The piece is part of my experimental reseach into the behaviour and aesthetics of honeybee colonies, how my actions affected their (the bees) actions, and the instinct to abandon projects (in bees and humans!)

 I was so concerned about casting this, and all the expert casters I spoke to were wary of casting it, then I avoided doing to, as the casting process destroys the original, and I put so much into this that I was scared!

 I eventually found the courage to cast it myself during my sabbatical at Carmarthen School of Art.
