This necklace began life as a piece of real honeycomb that Beca selected from her hive, then carved and formed the beeswax untill she was happy with it. Using an ancient method of casting called 'lost wax casting' the piece was then cast in solid silver.
Made in collaboration with honeybees; this collection of sculptural jewellery is inspired by the natural forms found in nature: in cellular structures; cracked mudflats; insect wings and in honeycomb.Beca keeps her bees in a low impact, sustainable way, trimming off areas of 'wild honeycomb' from outside the frames in the hive so as not to disrupt the bees
Each piece is unique, made over months in Beca's workshop in Wales. Made in sterling silver, the work is either black-oxidised or whitened, and matt-polished as Beca prefers this look, the work will take on a further patination and polish personal to the wearer.
This necklace can be worn either way around as the design is made to be seen from both sides, the high points will become more polished as it is worn. Chain is 45cm long.
Please contact Beca if you would like to commission any work: the rings can be made to fit and suit any size and gender.
