Wild Honeycomb Bangle: Limited Edition Piece in Solid Silver.
A special piece I made by combining a number of sections of honeycomb to form a bangle with intricate detail from every angle. Due to the difficulty in making these, they will be very limited in number as part of my Wild Honeycomb collection, about which you can read below:
Made in collaboration with honeybees; Beca Beeby's sculptural jewellery is inspired by the natural forms found in nature: in cellular structures; cracked mudflats; insect wings and in honeycomb.
Becas Wild Honeycomb collection began life as real honeycomb from her own honeybees.
This bangle is the largest piece in the collection, Beca made it as a stand out piece once she had perfected her technique.
Each piece in the collection is unique, made over months in Beca's workshop in Wales.
Made in sterling silver, the work is oxidised or whitened and matt-polished, as Beca prefers this look: the work will take on a further patination and polish personal to the wearer.
The first images show the bangle with a black oxide, the high points will become more polished as it is worn: There are two images of the bracelet without the black oxide.
Beca practices her skills in the most sustainable ways possible: she uses recycled metals; avoids any use of toxic chemicals-using citric and oxalic acid for pickling and etching; her workshop is solar powered and all packaging is recycled as many times as possible. Beca's inspiration comes from the natural world and she protects it in whatever ways she can.
Please contact Beca if you would like to commission any work: all jewellery can be made to fit and suit any size or gender.
